It goes without saying that there are bad drivers in the world. The thought of a bad driver also texting while anywhere in my vicinity scares the piss outta me. Not too long ago up in Romeo, MI, a young 16 year-old girl was a passenger in a car that was T-boned by a distracted driver running a red light. This video, financed by the Transportation Improvement Authority, is not a reenactment of that tragedy, but references it greatly and does its best to accurately recreate the circumstances. It strikes a chord and makes you think twice about responding to another dumb text with an “lol”.
Big shout out to my cousin Cindy for playing the featured role of the injured backseat passenger.
And of course, my deepest sympathies and unbounded respect for the surviving friends and family of Ally Zimmerman.
